Share Jesus by Redefining Love
Love, something that will catch the ear of anyone you’re talking to. Especially sa season na to mahahanap mo yung friends mo na either looking for love o di kaya may hugot tunkol sa love life. It’s just natural because God designed us to be relational beings, we were created to be a reflection of God and God is love and that is why we are familiar with the concept of love.
But somewhere along the way, we’ve lost the real meaning of what love is. People go to relationships to fill a hole in their hearts that no one but God can really fill. They look to relationships as a way to fulfill their own needs. This is why ang daming broken relationships at ang taas ng divorse rate sa mundo.
The good news is that kaya natin ibalik ang totoong definition of love. Because God has loved us first, we now can love others in the same way, and show the world what it truly means to love. So what about the way God loves is different from the rest of the world?
Love is Selfless not Selfish
Most people see love as give and take, when love in reality is just about giving. When you really love someone, you look out for their needs more than your own. God shows this to us in that while we were still sinners, Jesus died for us. Fulfilling our greatest need at a time when we were enemies to Him.
Love Delights not in Evil
Sadly, I see this a lot; people for the sake of “love” getting into bad practiced. Some get into vices, forsake their purity, and sometimes break the covenant of marriage for the sake of “love” which in reality was just feelings. Love as God shows it does not delight in evil but wants the greatest good for the other person, even if that greatest good means not being together.
Love Never Fails
You’ve seen it before; “I love you” one moment, then strangers the next. Parang nasanay na tayo that relationships are getting shorter. When before we were counting anniversaries, now we’re just counting months. People think it’s because love is about finding ‘the one.’ The person who will make you happy for the rest of your life. But that doesn’t work, love is a commitment to a person in good times or in bad times, whatever the circumstances.
Describe these things to a friend, and most likely they will think you’re crazy. Nobody can love like this, and it’s true. But we love because God first loved us. God is the true definition of what love is, and He is the one who teaches us how to truly love. Nakikita natin ang greatest expression of love on the cross when Jesus bought our salvation.
If you have friends na looking for love, tell them that who they really need is Jesus. Hopefully in this season we can show them how different the love of God really is by how we love others.
