3 Ways to Speak Life to Your Enemies

Tama ang nabasa mo, we also need to speak life to our enemies. Sabi nga sa Luke 6:27 diba “Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you.” We’re actually called to love those that are the most unlovable for us. Kapag nagawa natin yun, we have the chance of changing their lives and introducing them to Jesus. But we have to be different in the way we approach our enemies so that they can also see that we are different. So how do we speak life to our enemies?

1. Turn the other cheek

Matthew 5:39–40 tells us “But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well.” Hindi ko sinasabing magpabugbog tayo, but what this verse is teaching us is that we do not repay evil with evil, but instead we repay evil with good. If we get even, we’re just going around a cycle of vengeance. But if we break that cycle, we’re showing na hindi tayo katulad ng ibang tao.

2. True Forgiveness

When someone sins against us, our relationship with them is broken and we can’t have the same interactions that we did before. But true forgiveness gives a chance for that relationship to go back to being a good one. When we truly forgive someone, we’re also showing what our relationship with Jesus is like. Malaki ang kasalanan natin sa Kaniya, yet He chose to forgive us and restore our relationship with Him.

It’s hard to forgive, pero ano naman ang kasalanan ng isang tao sayo kumpara sa kasalanan natin sa Diyos diba? Our greatest motivation in forgiving others is that we were also forgiven.

3. Genuine Care

Have you heard the saying “hurt people, hurt people.”? People who habitually hurt others usually are coming from a deep hurt themselves. Nakakasakit sila ng iba kasi kailangan nila ng outlet for their own pain. Probably no one has ever cared to ask about how they are. We can speak life into them when we start genuinely caring about them. Ask them how they are, pray for them, be their friend.

I know, easier said than done. But you see yun ang ginawa ni Jesus for us. He cared for us while we were still His enemies. We have the chance to be able to show that same kind of love to another person. In loving our enemies we are showing them that it’s possible to restore a relationship with someone you have sinned against, just like with us and God. In speaking life to your enemies, you might just be paving the way for that enemy to become your brother or sister in Christ.
